Fastest One Hour List For Human Powered Vehicles
 Complied by Mike Mowett  as of January, 2005.
The following lists the furthest a human being has traveled in one hour under their own power. The Hour is known as the Race of Truth, one of the most revered records in cycling.  All vehicles utilized some form of aerodynamic body to make these speeds possible.  Vehicles started from a standing start and the rode continuously for 60 minutes.  These records represent One Hour Runs which exceeded the current UCI record for that year.  All vehicles were entirely human-powered. Runs falling below the current UCI mark cannot be ranked, because the other UCI marks less than the current UCI mark are unknown.

The historical mark tells where the run stood relative to the runs which preceded it when it was set -  # 1 = world record, # 2 = 2nd best ever, # 3 = 3rd best ever, etc.  The "current order" tells how the mark stands relative to the all the past runs.  Having the "Chronological order" field also allows someone to download and reorder the field (using the Sort command in Excel for example) to create an HPV history timeline.  References include IHPVA publications from 1978 onwards and Internet research. This list is not meant to be an official record of accomplishments or sanctioning.
