Any new information to post regarding the Indy race weekend April 28-29?

I need to know if I should start training today, or wait a week or two... ; )

Someone, and I can't recall who now, said that the organizers were thinking about adding a hill climb in on Sunday at Moorseville. Can anyone confirm that?

Jeff is old school. I can remember the days of showing up at Indy with no training.

If you want to get "your race on", that same weekend is the Bellbrook event of the Colavita/Zipp time trial series. You can sign up the day of the race. The new chip timing system will be used, plus all the other exciting features of this series. http://www.midwesttimetrial.com/tt_calendar.html

OK, here's the short version from Don Barry:
1) Marion College has started the "squeeze" to discontinue our use of the velodrome.
The cost to rent has just about doubled from last year.
We cannot use the parking lot for our trike events
They will most likely not open the gates early for us to set up.

2) The consequences are many.
Other than the GeeBee Prize for the Trike event and the 200 Meter Sprints, no money
Get there and get registered early.
Warm up laps before each event will be limited in time.
"Racers to the line!" means right now! Events will start without you.
Unless we really have things going ahead of schedule, only one run in the 200 meter.
The Trike race will use the flat inner track plus the cross over (maybe)

Most other details will remain the same as last year:

Warren;
Could you please correct the dates from last year's flyer to reflect April 28, 29 2012?

Will the 200m timing setup be legal for a WRRA record?

If it is electronically times with Garrie's timer or the WRRA pressure tape system, then yes.

Thom;
No, it isn't the latest. I couldn't get Indianapolis to issue a permit for transport of fissionable materials. However, next year I won't need a permit when I upgrade to the Mr Fusion powerpack. Just piss into the receiver/fuel cup and it will run for almost an hour and forty five minutes!!

Seriously, Thom, do you know of someone who might break the 200 meter record?

Mike; Just what is the record for 200 meter sprint on a velodrome, Stock Class?

Garrie, after losing last year to illness, provided conditions are right, I will attempt to set the Masters Flying 200m record. If not at Indy, then later in the year. I think Mr Costin's record is in no danger.

The UCI world record is incredible.

75 kMH/H unfaired

The men's record of 9.572 seconds was set by KÚvin Sireau in Moscow, Russia on May 30, 2009

That is huge power! Yet, bents continue to creep ever closer. Mr Costin's effort is no small feat.

To determine the current 200M masters record, just take a look at the WRRA records page. http://www.recumbents.com/wrra/records.asp

Here's a photo soon after Garrie purchased some upgrades to his system for the 2009 Ford event. Here he is adjusting his Super-Secret! TM laser air dissipation zapper which creates an artificial vaccuum just as a racer approaches the trap which thereby enables a racer to reach warp speed....

Here another mad scientist, Dr Paul was waiting his turn to play Space Invaders on Garries portable video game system / timing box thing-a-jingy.
